There are 2 Ways to Enroll for the GKS Scholarship

If you’re an Indian student and want to apply for GKS 2024, you have two options.

Option 1
Embassy Track.
The Embassy Track involves submitting your application through the Korean Embassy in India —either in Mumbai or Delhi.

Process:
To start, you’ll need to gather all the required documents.  Once assembled, you’ll need to obtain an apostille from MEA for the documents to verify their authenticity. Once your documents are ready, you can then submit the complete application package to the Korean Embassy in Delhi/Mumbai.
Option 2
University Track.
This is a more direct route to apply for the GKS scholarship. Instead of submitting your application to the embassy, you apply directly to a specific university in South Korea. This method allows you to choose your program and university as per your convenience.

Process:
To start, gather the necessary documents and carefully review the university’s application guidelines. Make sure that your documents are complete and adhere to their specified format. Once your application is ready, obtain apostilles for the required documents to make them acceptable in Korea.  Finally, you have to courier your completed application package directly to the university.

Are you Eligible to Apply for GKS 2024?

Your eligibility to the GKS program depends upon the program level (undergraduate, graduate, or research) and other things. Here are the General requirements :
  • Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of countries participating in the GKS program.
  • Academic Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required for master's programs and a master's degree for doctoral programs.
  • Age Limits: Specific age restrictions are applicable for different program levels.
  • Language Proficiency: English or Korean language proficiency is often necessary.
  • Academic Performance: Strong academic records are essential. Your grades need to be strong, either 80% or higher, or within the top 20% of your class. Your CGPA should be at least 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0.

What Documents are Needed for the GKS Application?

  • GKS Scholarship Application: This is the official form to apply for the scholarship.
  • GKS Applicant Agreement: It is a legal agreement between you and the scholarship provider.
  • Personal Statement: A short essay about yourself and your goals.
  • Statement of Purpose: This explains your reasons for choosing the specific program.
  • Research Proposal: For enrolling in graduate programs, an outline of your research project is needed.
  • Recommendation Letter: Letters of recommendation from professors or employers are needed.
  • Letter of Invitation: Sometimes, a letter from the host university is needed.
  • Personal Medical Assessment: A health report is needed to show that you are medically fit to study.

Is Apostille Necessary?

Whether you apply via the Embassy track or the University track, an apostille is mandatory for the documents that you want to submit with the application. You need an apostille on personal and educational documents. Following is a list of documents that need an apostille
