When it comes to verifying commercial documents like a GST certificate, the process usually starts with the Chamber of Commerce (CoC). The Coc is an independent body that is present in every state. They are responsible for checking if your business documents are real and correctly issued. The Coc also checks that your company is genuine and follows government rules—something that can help you build trust with international clients. You have to submit your GST certificate to CoC. They will do verification and then put their sticker on it.
Now, you have to submit your GST certificate to MEA. Once your GST certificate is apostilled, it’s legally accepted in all countries that are part of the Hague Convention.
You cannot! First, you need to update your GST certificate with the correct business name and address through the official GST portal. Only then will you be able to apply for an apostille. If you send an outdated GST certificate, it will get rejected immediately.
If the country where you’ll submit your GST certificate is part of the Hague Convention, you’ll need an apostille. If it’s not a Hague country, you’ll need to get it attested by the relevant embassy.
