To get a Marriage Certificate stamp on your documents, you must go through four validation steps.
The first stage in the procedure is having your Marriage certificates notarized by the Notary Public. A Notary Public is a government official whose role is to check if your marriage certificate is real. Once they approve, they will stamp it.
In the next step, you have to take your notarized marriage certificate to your state’s Home department for further verification. The State Home Department is in charge of attesting all your documents including your marriage certificate. Once they validate your document, they put their stamp on your document, making it ready for national-level verification. In some cases, Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) can also verify your marriage certificate.
In the next step, you have to take your verified marriage certificate to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). MEA is the main government body that verifies your documents on the national level. Their attestation confirms the authenticity of previous certifications. After your marriage certificates get stamped by the MEA, they’re all set for the final step.
Take your MEA-attested marriage certificate to the embassy office of the country you plan to migrate to. This is the most important stage for visa applications. The foreign embassy will check your document one last time and will issue a final attestation stamp on it, making your marriage certificate valid in that country.
It takes 5 to 7 working days and the price is Rs 5500 to Rs 7500 to get your marriage certificate attested in India.
